Job Specific Context

The AI Centre of Excellence is being established with the ambition of rolling out a robust AI infrastructure and innovative AI-based solutions, ensuring scalability for future growth and technological advancements. This position operates within a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment focused on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance UNOPS operational efficiency and impact. The role is critical for coordinating the delivery and rollout of AI solutions, managing stakeholder communications, and ensuring the successful adoption of AI technologies across the organization. 

Role Purpose

Under the supervision of the AI Center of Excellence (CoE) Lead, the Coordinator will lead the delivery and rollout of AI solutions, manage stakeholder communications and engagement, and coordinate operational activities across the AI Practice. This role will drive AI adoption across UNOPS, ensuring deployed solutions deliver measurable efficiency gains and enhance the quality of outputs.

Functions / Key Results Expected

1. AI Solution Delivery and Rollout


  • Coordinate the rollout of AI products to field offices and HQ, developing comprehensive rollout plans and coordinating with local IT focal points.


  • Drive AI adoption through hands-on engagement, ensuring solutions deliver measurable efficiency gains in areas like project briefs, donor reports, and dashboards.


  • Work directly with teams to document manual workflows and translate operational pain points into actionable AI use cases.

  • Conduct field assessments evaluating data availability, infrastructure, and staff digital literacy against defined readiness criteria. 

  • Ensure all field rollouts comply with established AI ethics and data privacy frameworks. 

2. Stakeholder Communication and Engagement


  • Serve as the main point of contact for business stakeholders, understanding their needs and ensuring alignment across functions and regions.


  • Coordinate engagement with UN agencies and inter-agency working groups; prepare briefing materials, position papers, and progress reports for the Lead's participation in high-level forums, including UN80.


  • Draft and publish success stories, case studies, newsletters, and progress briefs to keep HQ, regional offices, and external stakeholders informed and aligned with the AI roadmap.

3. Operational Coordination and Governance

  • Coordinate activities across the AI CoE to ensure integration across functions, regions, and practice units, breaking down silos to foster collaborative innovation.

  • Guide each AI initiative through the assurance and approval processes defined by the Lead, preparing required documentation for and coordinating with relevant governance bodies.

  • Serve as the primary operational bridge between Core Systems Engineering (CSE) and end users, translating requirements into technical inputs.

  • Evaluate emerging AI tools and approaches for relevance to active or planned field rollouts, and provide the Lead and CSE team with practical assessments of their applicability.

  • Manage active rollouts and implementations, tracking status, risks, dependencies, and timelines, and reporting regularly to the AI CoE Lead.

  • Define and track KPIs to measure the impact and ROI of AI initiatives, ensuring a data-driven approach to reporting and improvement.

  • Maintain reporting dashboards and lead reviews to evaluate AI project success and extract lessons learned for future scaling.

4. Training and Support


  • Deliver training sessions, workshops, and onboarding materials to ensure field office staff can effectively utilize deployed AI solutions.


  • Establish post-deployment feedback loops with field offices: collect user feedback, monitor adoption, identify issues, and feed improvement requests back to the CSE team and the AI CoE Lead  


  • Act as the primary escalation point for field offices, triaging between internal AI team resolutions and technical CSE support.

Education Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), preferably in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields with 7 years of relevant experience OR

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in any of the above or related fields with 5 years of relevant experience is required



Experience Requirements

Required

  • Experience in project coordination, technology rollout, or programme support within complex, multi-stakeholder environments (Minimum 5 years with a Master's, 7 years with a Bachelor's)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in change management, technology adoption, or user enablement 

  • Demonstrated experience working with AI models, tools, or platforms, with demonstrated knowledge of the current AI landscape and emerging trends. 

  • Experience coordinating across distributed teams or offices, including preparing briefing materials, progress reports, and stakeholder communications. 

  • Experience supporting the adoption or implementation of technology solutions, digital tools, or data-driven initiatives.

  • Experience delivering training, workshops, or capacity-building activities for non-technical audiences.


Desired

  • Experience mapping existing workflows or business processes and translating them into requirements for new solutions or ways of working

  • Experience defining KPIs, tracking adoption metrics, or maintaining reporting dashboards.

  • Experience working within the UN system or a similar international organisation.
