UNOPS has partnered with UNGSC to provide support services covered in this TOR. This is a position in UNOPS for supporting projects carried out for the United Nations Secretariat. The incumbent of this position will be a staff member of UNOPS under its full responsibility.

Job Specific Context

UNOPS has signed an agreement with the UN Secretariat to provide technology services.

Role Purpose

Under the overall supervision of UNOPS Programme Manager, with the guidance and under the supervision of the ICT Senior Advisor – ICT Infrastructure the incumbent will perform the job functions listed in this TOR.

Functions / Key Results Expected

With the delegated authority, the ICT Specialist – ICT Infrastructure key functions are:

  1. ICT Support 
  2. Knowledge Management 
  3. Coordination Support


1. ICT Support 

  • ICT Service Monitoring & Reporting; Monitor availability, performance, and capacity of ICT systems, platforms, and services; Assist in tracking SLAs, OLAs, and KPIs; identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement; coordinate to maintain monitoring tools and ensure proper alerting and escalation mechanisms
  • Support deployment, configuration, and maintenance of ICT infrastructure (servers, virtualization, storage, and networks); Monitor system health, capacity, and utilization to support scalability planning; Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and assets
  • Support monitoring of backup systems and disaster recovery readiness; Assist in coordinating DR tests and documenting outcomes; Track implementation of corrective actions from DR exercises. 
  • Monitor compliance with ICT security policies and standards; Support vulnerability management, patching, and security controls implementation; Track and report on security incidents and mitigation actions


2. Knowledge Management 

  • Assist in coordination and tracking of ICT projects and initiatives. 
  • Facilitate communication of system status, outages, and planned maintenance


3. Coordination Support

  • Assist in the coordination of the operational activities with vendors and service providers; Escalate service delivery issues and support service review processes. 
  • Act as a focal point for coordinating ICT operational matters with users and technical teams
  • Help support day-to-day ICT operations to ensure continuity of services; Support incident, problem, and change management processes; Ensure timely resolution of service requests and incidents in line with agreed targets.
  • Provide support in coordination of development, maintenance, and testing of disaster recovery and business continuity plans; Coordinate DR exercises and ensure operational readiness of critical systems
  • Serve as a liaison between ICT teams, business units, and external partners; Facilitate service management meetings, service review meetings, and reporting.


4. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

Required


  • Master’s degree or equivalent preferably in information systems or computer science or a related field with 2 years of relevant experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferably in information systems or computer science or a related field with 4 years of relevant experience


Desired

  • Certification in ITIL Foundation is desirable.

Experience Requirements

Required

  • Relevant experience is defined as experience in development, implementation and maintenance of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems including very good knowledge of service delivery management for mission-critical applications and designing and implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions for complex systems.

  • Experience in dealing with organization with global technology infrastructure
