About the Region
The Asia Pacific Regional Office, based in Bangkok, Thailand, provides strategic leadership and oversight for UNOPS operations across 17 countries, ensuring high performance, operational excellence, and alignment with organizational goals. Operations currently span Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Pacific Islands. Across these countries, we work closely with key stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and maximize impact through five main operating units: Afghanistan (AFCO), Myanmar (MMCO), South Asia Multi-Country Office (SAMCO), East Asia and Pacific Multi-Country Office (EAPMCO), and the Asia Regional Health Cluster (ARHC). Through these entities, we provide agile, client-focused service delivery across diverse sectors - including infrastructure, health, procurement, and project management - supporting the implementation of sustainable development solutions across the region.

The South Asia Multi-Country Office (SAMCO) supports UNOPS operations across six countries: Bangladesh, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. SAMCO delivers a broad range of services and technical expertise in climate change, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), infrastructure, procurement, human resource management, and fund management. Each country office is staffed with local technical experts and maintains strong partnerships with national governments, ensuring context-specific solutions and effective project implementation.

UNOPS supports a range of projects focused on capacity development and infrastructure, leveraging its expertise in procurement, human resource management, finance, and project management to deliver efficient, sustainable solutions.

UNOPS Bangladesh is joining the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in the implementation of 6 medical waste management facilities across climate-vulnerable government hospitals in Bangladesh. The Integrated Medical Waste Program for the Advanced Community Transformation Project is designed to enhance Bangladesh's health system. This initiative focuses on bolstering the medical waste management capacity of six district hospitals by providing essential infrastructure and equipment. With funding from TAKEDA pharmaceuticals, UNOPS is implementing the project in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

The Project Management Support Assistant will provide comprehensive support to the project team, assisting with day-to-day project activities, monitoring and evaluation, donor coordination, reporting, and project visibility. The incumbent will contribute to the timely, cost-effective, safe, and quality delivery of the project, ensuring alignment with UNOPS and donor requirements.

1. Project Implementation Support
Provide support in the implementation of project activities
Support daily project office functioning and communication with external parties.
Support administrative processes, such as communicating different administrative information to project beneficiaries, and administrative monitoring of the contracts.
Provide support for the contract management activities.
Support HSSE-related activities, including reporting.
Support in managing and preparing all relevant supporting documents related to different payments.
2. Donor Coordination and Reporting
Assist in preparing draft presentations in relation to project progress, challenges, risks, issues etc. with the guidance from the project manager.
Research and identify potential funding options for the office.
Assist in drafting strategy documents for the office.
Support the development of reports highlighting key project milestones and outcomes in line with donor guidelines.
3. Monitoring and Evaluation Support
Support in the delivery of communication material related to the project’s M&E plans in consultation with the project manager and under the guidance of M&E team lead for the project.
Assist in project feasibility studies, site assessments, baseline surveys, SOPs, and training content development by drafting plans, documentation, progress monitoring etc.Assist in monitoring project performance metrics.
Develop and maintain a Google dashboard for data collection, evaluation, and analysis.
4. Communication and Visibility
Assist in generating content (information/images) for promotional activities.
Provide support for the Project’s communication and visibility activities.
Closely work with office comms focal points to deliver coordinated outputs.
5. Project Management Office (PMO) Support
Assist in project engagement reviews and Project Management Office (PMO) tasks.
Provide event management support, including logistics support for official travel, preparation of participants' list, invitations, agenda, presentations, attendance sheets, and similar.
In addition to the specified tasks, the incumbent position would perform other need-based tasks assigned by the supervisor.

- For retainer contracts, you must complete a few mandatory courses (they take around 4 hours to complete) in your own time, before providing services to UNOPS.
