The position is part of the project based team within the UNTSS that is helping UN system organizations modernize their supply chains through various project engagements —improving service levels, reducing costs, and enabling smarter planning and execution through well-designed processes, systems, and data through process and technical leadership in business process re-engineering, automation, systems enhancement, and data management for supply chain management while ensuring solution alignment with relevant policies, donor requirements, and operational needs.

The incumbent of this position will be personnel of UNOPS under its full responsibility.

Even though the level of the position is indicated as IICA 1, depending on the incumbent's personal situation (candidate with national ID or resident permit in duty station), a local fee scale (LICA-9) might be applied in determining the contractor's fee.

Job Specific Context

UNOPS supports partners to build a better future by providing services that increase the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of peace building, humanitarian and development projects. Mandated as a central resource of the United Nations, UNOPS provides sustainable project management, procurement and infrastructure services to a wide range of governments, donors and United Nations organizations.


The New York Portfolios Office (NYPO) supports the United Nations Secretariat, as well as other New York-based United Nations organizations, bilateral and multilateral partners in the delivery of UNOPS mandate in project management, infrastructure management, and procurement management


The Sustainable Development Cluster (SDC) supports diverse partners with their peacebuilding, humanitarian and development operations. It was formed by combining the following portfolios: Grants Management Services (GMS), UN Technology Support Services (UNTSS), Development and Special Initiatives Portfolio (DSIP) It provides Services to partners' programmes that are designed, structured, and managed with a global perspective and primarily serving partners that are headquartered in New York. The SDC has a footprint of approximately 125 countries.

Role Purpose

The requirement of this role is to work with the various partners supporting supply chain process transformation projects, perform as-is and to-be analysis, and translate them into scalable solutions, and ensure data-driven decision-making across end-to-end supply chain processes. This role sits at the intersection of process, data, and technology—driving measurable improvements through business process reengineering, solution design, and data management.

Functions / Key Results Expected

  • Support deployment and implementation strategy for supply chain planning process reengineering projects through collaborating with UN entities.

  • Support  transition management, ensuring that business as usual is maintained during the transition and the changes are effectively integrated into the business

  • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with all project stakeholders, ensuring adequate levels and timeliness of communications are maintained.

  • In collaboration with the Programme/Project Manager and Deployment Lead, he/she will develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and risk registers. Identify appropriate human and technical resources to complete the implementation, assure that deviations from deliverables and schedule are addressed and communicated

  • Conduct project meetings and produce briefing notes and action items with standard reports to actively monitor business changes. Proactively evaluate activities, propose corrective actions and monitor issue resolution to mitigate risks.

  • Develop an implementation framework based on the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model, as well as a baseline from an in-depth analysis of selected processes to measure and assess the timeliness, effectiveness, and efficiency of the supply chain.

  • Prepare and track the project timelines for the project, tracking delivery against project milestones, raising any change requests to necessary authorities.

  • Develop project artifacts such as process diagrams and process documentation including Target Operating Models and To-be analysis. 

  • Design and deliver User Training and prepare the Training Materials

Education Requirements

Required:

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) preferably in Business Administration, Project Management, Social Science, or related fields with two (2) years of relevant experience OR
  • A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) preferably in Business Administration, Project Management, Social Science, or related fields with four (4) years of relevant experience


Experience Requirements

Required:

  • Relevant experience is defined as experience in Programme, Project Management and/or Business Administration is required preferably in an international/multi cultural organization

  • Experience working with Supply Chain Planning and Supply Chain Planning solution in a non-for-profit setting is required



Desirable:

  • Experience in providing general administration support preferably in an office environment is highly desirable

  • Experience in report writing or/and performing research is desirable

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment that requires high flexibility is desirable

  • Good problem-solving skills, ability to work productively and self-motivate

  • Attention to details, ability to multitask and excellent communication skills
