About the Region
The Asia Pacific Regional Office, based in Bangkok, Thailand, provides strategic leadership and oversight for UNOPS operations across 17 countries, ensuring high performance, operational excellence, and alignment with organizational goals. Operations currently span Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Pacific Islands. Across these countries, we work closely with key stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and maximize impact through five main operating units: Afghanistan (AFCO), Myanmar (MMCO), South Asia Multi-Country Office (SAMCO), East Asia and Pacific Multi-Country Office (EAPMCO), and the Asia Regional Health Cluster (ARHC). Through these entities, we provide agile, client-focused service delivery across diverse sectors - including infrastructure, health, procurement, and project management - supporting the implementation of sustainable development solutions across the region.

The South Asia Multi-Country Office (SAMCO) supports UNOPS operations across six countries: Bangladesh, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. SAMCO delivers a broad range of services and technical expertise in climate change, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), infrastructure, procurement, human resource management, and fund management. Each country office is staffed with local technical experts and maintains strong partnerships with national governments, ensuring context-specific solutions and effective project implementation.

The Knowledge Management Officer will play a crucial role in enhancing SAMCO's ability to capture, share, and leverage knowledge effectively. This position will support the implementation of knowledge management strategies and initiatives, ensuring that SAMCO's expertise and insights are readily available to support project delivery and strategic decision-making. The role requires a blend of analytical skills, technical proficiency, and strong communication abilities to foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the organization and with development partners.

The Knowledge Management Officer will support the development and implementation of knowledge management strategies and initiatives within SAMCO and for assigned project(s). This includes knowledge capture and documentation, knowledge sharing and learning platforms, data analytics and insights, and content management and communications monitoring and reporting. The role involves gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data to support informed decision-making and enhance organizational learning.

1. Knowledge Strategy & Governance
- Support the development and implementation of knowledge management strategy, aligning it with organizational/project(s)’ goals and objectives.
- Contribute to the establishment of knowledge management governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Support monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of knowledge management initiatives, providing inputs for improvement.
2. Knowledge Capture & Documentation
- Facilitate the capture and documentation of knowledge assets, including best practices, lessons learned, and project outcomes.
- Support the development and maintenance of knowledge repositories, ensuring that information is easily accessible and retrievable.
- Support the creation of knowledge products, such as case studies, reports, and presentations.
3. Knowledge Sharing & Learning Platforms
- Support the management and maintenance of knowledge sharing platforms, such as SharePoint and other collaborative tools.
- Support knowledge sharing events, workshops, and communities of practice.
- Promote the use of knowledge sharing platforms and tools, encouraging peer engagement and participation.
4. Data, Analytics & Insights
- Support to gather, clean, and analyze data related to operations, projects, and knowledge assets.
- Support the development and maintenance of dashboards and data visualizing materials to track key performance indicators and trends.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support informed decision-making.
5. Content Management & Communications monitoring and reporting
- Support the management and maintenance of internal and external communications channels, ensuring that content is accurate, relevant, and up-to-date.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of communications activities, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Support the development of communications materials, such as newsletters, brochures, and social media content.

- For retainer contracts, you must complete a few mandatory courses (they take around 4 hours to complete) in your own time, before providing services to UNOPS. Refreshers or new mandatory courses may be required during your contract. Please note that you will not receive any compensation for taking courses and refreshers.
