About the Country/Multi-Country Office
Based in Peru, the Andean Multi-Country Office (ANMCO) also oversees UNOPS operations in Ecuador and Colombia. In both Peru and Ecuador, UNOPS primarily provides technical assistance to strengthen local government capacities and improve public service delivery. Active in Peru since 1995, UNOPS has supported a wide array of initiatives across sectors such as health, education, justice, governance, environment, transportation, agriculture, and recreation—contributing to public sector modernization and the efficient, transparent use of public resources. Over the past 32 years, this collaboration has mobilized nearly USD 4 billion in public investments, delivering estimated savings of 20% and supporting progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals. In Ecuador, UNOPS works with national partners to enhance access to essential services, with a focus on health, urban mobility, and sustainable development, through public infrastructure modernization and the strategic procurement of goods and services.

El rol apoyará la asistencia técnica de UNOPS en la modernización y repotenciación de centrales hidroeléctricas, centrándose en los componentes de potencia, protección y control de la cartera de proyectos, que incluye:
Modernización de subestación, enfocada en Protección Diferencial de Barras y Protección de Líneas de Transmisión.
Supervisión de Generadores Síncronos Trifásicos y Transformadores de Elevación de la central principal.
Soporte en la protección eléctrica de Generadores y Transformadores para los Sistemas Contraincendios (SCI) de las centrales asociadas.

Role Purpose
El Ingeniero Eléctrico Especialista proporcionará soporte técnico especializado en sistemas de potencia, generación, transformación y protección al equipo multidisciplinario de UNOPS en la gestión de las licitaciones y el seguimiento contractual posterior, asegurando el cumplimiento normativo en los proyectos de modernización y repotenciación de centrales hidroeléctricas.

Se requiere mínimo de 2 a 4 años de experiencia (dependiendo del grado académico) en proyectos de centrales hidroeléctricas u operación y mantenimiento en centrales hidroeléctricas.
Experiencia demostrable en proyectos de centrales de generación o subestaciones en cada uno de estos rubros: i) Subestaciones, ii) Protección diferencial de barras y/o Protección de líneas de transmisión, iii) Control de subestaciones, iv) generadores síncronos trifásicos y transformadores de elevación.
Desired
Deseable experiencia en proyectos de modernización o repotenciación de centrales hidroeléctricas.

- For staff positions only, UNOPS reserves the right to appoint a candidate at a lower level than the advertised level of the post.
- For retainer contracts, you must complete a few mandatory courses (they take around 4 hours to complete) in your own time, before providing services to UNOPS. Refreshers or new mandatory courses may be required during your contract. Please note that you will not receive any compensation for taking courses and refreshers.
