Job Highlight

Under the overall supervision of UNOPS Senior Programme Manager, the ICT Associate - Data and Analytics will carry out his/her tasks within the United Nations Global Service Center (UNGSC) Office in Valencia, Spain and will report to the Analytics Delivery Lead or designated personnel.

This is a position in UNOPS for supporting projects carried out for the United Nations Secretariat. The incumbent of this position will be a staff member of UNOPS under its full responsibility.

Job Specific Context

UNOPS has signed a Financial Agreement with the Enterprise Resource Planning Solution Division (ERPSD), and its primary objectives are: 


1. Improve and support all deployed Umoja solutions. 

2. Continue to innovate and introduce fit-for-purpose exciting ERP products.

By aggregating operational data for analytics across functional areas within the Organization, Umoja frees up time for higher value-added activities, which would have been otherwise spent on inefficient, paper-based tasks.


Role Purpose

The ICT Associate – Data and Analytics work impacts directly on delivery of services that satisfy the requirements of ERPSD as well as the performance of the services implemented.  It will also ensure proper processes and methodologies are followed and implemented according to the latest of the industry standards.  


The incumbent is responsible for ensuring activities for all global locations are in line with the overall business targets and UN policies, rules and regulations. 

Functions / Key Results Expected

The personnel will be responsible for the following duties:

  1. Enterprise Data & Analytics development and modeling

  2. Data platform support and maintenance

  3. Knowledge management and documentation


Functional Responsibilities:


  1. Enterprise Data & Analytics Development

  • Build and maintain data pipelines and integrations using SAP Datasphere and SAP BTP.

  • Assist in the monitoring of Extract, Transformation and Load (ETL) processes to bring data from various data sources into data repositories and warehouses

  • Design and develop data models using SAP HANA (XSA) and Core Data Services (CDS) Views.

  • Analyze business requirements and deliver scalable, semantically rich data solutions.

  • Contribute to the implementation of AI/ML models within the SAP ecosystem, leveraging tools available in SAP BTP.

  • Understand and work within SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) architecture, including integration with external platforms (e.g Databricks)

  • Assist in the development of SAP HANA views and SAP Business Warehouse (BW) data models.

  • Assist in the design and development of reports and dashboards using tools like SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) 


  1. Data Platform Support and Maintenance

  • Perform unit testing and validation of reports and data models.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related incidents and service requests.

  • Analyze and support the integration of existing ETL processes with modern SAP tools such as Datasphere and BTP, ensuring alignment with enterprise data architecture and governance models.


  1. Knowledge Management and Documentation

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, data dictionaries, and process guides.

  • Contribute to the development of training materials and knowledge base articles.

  • Support internal knowledge sharing and best practices adoption.

Education Requirements

Required:

  • Secondary school diploma (or high school equivalent) and 6 (six) years of relevant experience are required OR.


  • A first-level university degree (undergraduate, Bachelors, or equivalent) with 2 years of relevant experience.

Experience Requirements

Required: 

  • Relevant experience is defined as experience in the field of ICT, Information Systems, or other related fields.

  • Demonstrated experience working with modern data platforms, pipelines, or data modelling tools, including hands-on use of SQL and/or scripting languages such as Python or R for data transformation and integration tasks. 

  • Basic understanding of or exposure to ERP systems and enterprise business processes (e.g. finance, procurement, supply chain), acquired through academic training, professional experience, or self-directed learning.


Desired:

  • Familiarity with SAP technologies (e.g. S/4HANA, BW/4HANA, HANA, Datasphere, BTP, SAC), acquired through academic training, certification, or professional experience; and/or experience with cloud-based data platforms and modern data architecture concepts. 

  • Demonstrated interest in or hands-on exposure to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) concepts, tools, or frameworks. 

  • Experience with ETL orchestration tools and/or designing dashboards, reports, or self-service analytics solutions. 

  • Demonstrated capacity for self-directed learning, prototyping, and working with emerging technologies in international or multicultural environments
